But others at Thursday’s hearing, such as Nicholas John, of R-Street Institute, a public policy research agency, argued the ban would reduce the availability of “safer” tobacco products for adults of legal purchasing age.

“Greater flavor options provide more paths away from the most harmful and widely used tobacco products, which continue to be cigarette products,” said John, adding adults should be able to make choices for themselves that are “healthier in the long run.”
