Thinking analytically about electoral security

Our election infrastructure is a diverse, under-resourced system that is pervasively vulnerable to manipulation by outsiders, threatening both the integrity of our elections and the perception of their integrity.

There are many things that can readily be done to reduce the risk from these vulnerabilities – including greater information sharing, more federal resources, and basic security standard setting.

To date, the Federal government has not been focused on this threat, at least in part for political reasons.  It is time, and past time, to put partisanship aside and focus on strengthening our critical election infrastructure.  Elections are the very definition of democracy and must be protected.
