Cyril Draffin

Cyril Draffin is an associate fellow of the R Street Institute, where his work focuses on cybersecurity for electric utilities, vehicles and other energy systems. He also evaluates solar, wind, coal, gas and nuclear energy systems, as well as information technology and defense strategies.

In addition to his work with R Street, Cyril is a project adviser to the MIT Energy Initiative, U.S. representative to the International Energy Agency International Smart Grid Action Network Academy, member of the Maryland Cybersecurity Council, mentor at the Mach 37 cybersecurity accelerator and Defense Red Team chair for the Professional Services Council.

Earlier in his career he was a director for the Northrop Grumman Corp. for 23 years, focused on defense, information technology and energy strategy. Previously, he was a venture capitalist focused on information technology investments.

Cyril received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
