Cameron Smith is general counsel and vice president of implementation for the R Street Institute, where he oversees how R Street implements and communicates the policy solutions its experts develop. He also handles a wide range of the institute’s legal matters.

Before moving to Alabama, Cameron served as counsel to U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Earlier, he was counsel to U.S. Rep. Tom Feeney, R-Fla., and to U.S. Rep. Geoff Davis, R-Ky.

Cameron earned his bachelor’s from Washington and Lee University and his law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law

He lives in Birmingham, Alabama, with his wife, Justine, and three sons affectionately known as the Beast, Middle Beast and Little Beast.
