WASHINGTON (April 11, 2013) –- The R Street Institute today announced it has named Lori Sanders to the new position of outreach manager, working out of the institute’s Washington, D.C. headquarters.

Sanders comes to R Street from the American Enterprise Institute, where she most recently served as program manager for AEI’s Road to Freedom project, helping to market AEI President Arthur Brooks’ 2012 bestseller The Road to Freedom. Previously, she worked as a development associate in AEI’s corporate relations department.

As outreach manager, Sanders will be responsible for R Street’s coalition efforts, as well as providing public outreach and education about public policy issues to regulators, lawmakers and their staffs. She will report to R Street Outreach Director and Senior Fellow Andrew Moylan.

“Lori brings to R Street extensive contacts and expertise across a broad range of public policy topics, as well as the creativity and flexibility to tackle challenges in new ways,” Moylan said.

Prior to her work at AEI, Sanders worked at George Mason University’s Mercatus Center, as a participant in the Charles Koch Institute’s Koch Associate Program. A native of Macon, Ga., Sanders is a graduate of Mercer University, where she studied finance and economics.

“We are delighted to add Lori to our growing team,” R Street President Eli Lehrer said. “Given her background, we have no doubt that she is a top-notch performer who will enhance our ability to do congressional outreach, as well as to forge new coalitions, and build on our existing coalitions, with partners on both the right and the left.”
