About Andrew
Andrew Hanson is an associate professor of economics at Marquette University.
His research focuses on public finance and urban economics, authoring papers on federal housing subsidies, spatially targeted redevelopment programs, the incidence of tobacco taxes and racial discrimination in housing markets. His work has been published in the Journal of Urban Economics, National Tax Journal, Regional Science and Urban Economics, the Journal of Regional Science, the Journal of Housing Economics, Public Finance Review and the Journal of Public Budgeting and Finance.
Before joining Marquette, Andrew was an assistant professor at Georgia State University in Atlanta and served as a staff economist at the President’s Council of Economic Advisers.
Andrew received his bachelor’s degree in economics from University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and his doctorate in economics from Syracuse University.
A native of Waukesha, Wisconsin, Andrew lives Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin with his wife, Morgan; his daughter, Elliana; and their French bulldog, Ernie. He enjoys running, biking, the Milwaukee Brewers and the Syracuse Orange.
