WASHINGTON (May 17, 2017) – The R Street Institute today announced the addition of policy expert Caleb Watney as a technology policy associate with the R Street Institute, where he will lead R Street’s work on emerging technologies, including autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence, drones, robotics and medical tech.

“These emerging technologies are evolving rapidly and have the opportunity to radically reshape our lives in amazing ways.” Watney said. “But to reap the benefits we need smart, flexible policy solutions. The R Street Institute is well-positioned to be a leader in these policy fields. I’m excited to be here and working hard to make the future happen faster.”

Caleb joined R Street full-time in May 2017. Previously, he worked as a graduate research fellow with the Technology Policy Program at the Mercatus Center, and as a policy research consultant for Uber.

“We are thrilled to add Caleb to our growing tech team,” said Eli Lehrer, president of the R Street Institute. “Caleb is a rising star in the emerging tech field. His unique ideas and special blend of qualitative and quantitative research skills are an incredible asset to R Street.”

Caleb received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Sterling College and his master’s in economics from George Mason University.
