R Street Innovation Policy Director Mike Godwin joined a number of other notable panelists to discuss strategic lawsuits against public participation (“SLAPPs”) and what legal and legislative strategies are available to combat these insidious threats to free speech and free expression, particularly on the internet. Presented by the Charles Koch Institute, Glassdoor, the Internet Association, TripAdvisor and Yelp, the panel also featured Emma Llansó, director of the Center for Democracy & Technology’s Free Expression Project; Dawn Lyon, vice president of corporate affairs for Glassdoor; and Shaun Martin, professor at the University of San Diego School of Law; and was moderated by Benny Johnson, creative director of the Independent Journal Review.
